On July 2 at 9:36 p.m., Barton County Sheriff ’s officers executed a Rice County arrest warrant for Michael La Roy Urban, Claflin, on two felony counts and one misdemeanor count.

According to the arrest warrant, Urban is charged with one felony count of damage or tamper to a critical infrastructure facility, one felony count of interference with law enforcement, and one count of misdemeanor theft. The three counts occurred on or about June 13, 2025 in Rice County. There are 16 critical infrastructure sectors whose assets, systems, and networks, whether physical or virtual, are considered so vital to the United States that their incapacitation or destruction would have a debilitating effect on security, national economic security, national public health or safety, or any combination thereof.

Mike Urban has served as Claflin’s mayor since his election in 2011 and was re-elected for a fourth term in 2023. He was a member of the city council in 2009. Urban is still active as Claflin’s mayor.
