STAFFORD — What a beautiful day for Mother’s Day! This seems like it has been a more typical spring weather wise this year. The rain has made everything so pretty and green. An interesting thought from CBS SundayMorning: “72% of people call their mother every day and 78% text mom daily.” I think this is probably true for those that aren’t seeing their mom everyday. I’m lucky to have two children close by (Pratt & Stafford) and one only as far away as Topeka.
We have been busy with projects this week. Nothing big – Sandy is Just Creating an OCEAN in the basement, for our Color our World summer reading program. Think – sunken ship, giant clam reading spot, Davy Jones’ Locker, giant octopus and squid and much much more! My project is small in comparison. I developed a Timeline of Stafford History craft for 2nd graders who will visit the library Monday morning. I am thankful for the community in 1985 that put together the Stafford Centennial book with great pictures and historical facts for Stafford. We have two copies that have great community and family information! If your family wasn’t here or didn’t buy one in 1985, I encourage you to come “deep dive” for fun facts.
Mrs. Meyer likes to make yearly class visits to places in Stafford to get her students connected to Stafford businesses and history. We look forward to it each year.
Monday afternoon Sandy and I will go on a shopping trip to Hobby Lobby to find items needed for crafts for summer reading. Sandy is good at looking on the internet for interesting craft projects. Those little videos go really fast though and leave a lot to figure out. Sandy has a creative mind – she would say CRAZY thoughts, but things are coming together nicely.
We are shifting to spring with our “Bouquet of Books” reading challenge.
Read five books out of nine choices in three months. It has been a good way to get out of a rut of the same genre and authors. Books can be from here or any that you can find elsewhere. Look for the form on facebook or stop in and get a book and form from Nora’s Place.
I have received an email from Meta West, our guest speaker for First Friday June 6th. Meta and husband Barry have created a great power-point and program through information found in area cookbooks. What a great way to remember and learn about stafford. Hope to see you here. There is nothing better than talking about – then eating great food!
Our next board meeting is May 14.
