Deadline to register to vote in Ward 2 primary is Tuesday

Tuesday is the last day people can register to vote in the August primary. There is only one primary election in Barton County, and that is for Great Bend City Council’s Ward 2 position.

The candidates are:

• Stephen Patton, 3508 23rd St.

• Suresh Bahadur Maharjan, 3800 19th St.

• Charlie Dixon, 5100 24th St.

• Jay Luerman, 3208 28th St.

The primary will be on Aug. 5 but county officials expect that Ward 2 residents will be able to take advantage of early voting by Wednesday, July 16. Early voting ends at noon on Monday, Aug. 4, the day before the election.

Advance voting by mail is available by application through the Barton County Clerk’s Office.
