Most fees for Great Bend Public Schools will remain unchanged this fall when the 2025-2026 school year gets underway. The USD 428 Board of Education will be asked to approve fees at Monday’s meeting, which starts at 5 p.m. on June 9 at the District Education Center, 1809 24th St.

The administration recommends a $5 increase to the cost of activity passes for Great Bend High School and Great Bend Middle School, which will be $35 instead of the $30 price in 2024-2025.

Other fees, unchanged, are $40 for pre-K and kindergarten, $55 for grades 1-6, $60 for grades 7-8 and $95 for grades 9-12. The middle school technology fee is $5 and the high school technology fee is $10.

Meal prices are also mostly unchanged, except for adult meals. Those will now cost $5, a 50-cent increase.

Regular prices for lunch are $2.35 for preschool, $2.50 for elementary school, $2.80 at GBMS, $2.85 at GBHS and $3.50 at Holy Family School, which utilizes USD 428’s Food Services. Reduced-price meals are 40 cents and milk is 50 cents.

Regular breakfast prices are $1.50 for students, $2.50 for adults, and 30 cents for those who qualify for reduced prices.

Also on the agenda is the 2024-2025 mileage reimbursement rate, set at 54 cents per mile.

USD 428 offers mileage reimbursement to eligible parents and guardians for transporting students to and from their assigned attendance centers. Eligibility is based on completing the application for students who live 2.5 miles or more from the designated attendance center and reside outside the city limits of Great Bend but within the district’s boundaries. Ninety-one families participated, transporting 162 students and covering a total of 165,883.8 miles.
