Free holiday concert recalls Stan Kenton Brass
Christmas hometown

 The Stan Kenton Christmas Brass is returning to Great Bend for another holiday concert on Sunday, Dec. 7. It will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, 2701 24th St., starting at 1 p.m. Admission is free.

The concert is again being supported by generous donations from the Barton County Arts Council, Dr. Jonathan and Arnell Briel, Bryant Funeral Home, City of Great Bend, Central Kansas Piano Teachers League, Bill and Jackie Cook, Bruce and Sharon Custer, Mark and Kathy Esfeld, Dr. Len and Shelia Fleske, Harlen and Linda Jerke, Steven and Jil Johnson, Mike and Patti Kasselman and Dr. Perry and Krista Smith.

Stan Kenton was born in Wichita and led big bands in the 1940s, ’50s, ’60s and ’70s. The concert music that will be performed on Dec. 7 is from Kenton’s Christmas album, “A Merry Christmas.”
