During Catholic Schools Week, the Holy Family Catholic School participated in a Penny Challenge. This challenge means pennies, nickels and dimes count toward the positive, while quarters, half dollars and paper money count as negatives.
Each class contributed toward their positives, while contributing negatives toward other classes.
Winning the Bragging Rights as winners were the 4th graders. However, the real winners are the parish members of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Altadena, Calif., who received $2,000 from Holy Family to aid their families in this community devastated by wildfires.
The Penny Challenge raised $3,500 and the remaining $1,500 will be used to benefit the HFS students with their academic activities.
Principal Debbie Hagans has visited with members of the Sacred Heart Church office and states that they are so thankful that HFS has reached out to them to help with their relief efforts.
