STAFFORD — KIDS!  The highlight of our week and lot’s of them! Exploration Place was the inspiration for a great time in the library on June 18th!

The morning started out with the 3-7-year-olds learning all about the mouth. It started with a great book about our mouth. Then three stations were rotated through: one of fake teeth and green magic markers to cover the teeth in fake food stains and tooth brushes to demonstrate how to get the teeth clean; the second station had large Lego blocks and playdough to simulate food trapped between teeth and yarn was used to floss the playdough out; and the third station had samples of apple juice, salt water, lemon juice and green tea to stimulate the taste buds. It was perfect! Education and Entertainment all in one fun morning!

The afternoon session for 6-13-year-olds had seven adventurous tables including, making pinecone bird feeders; insect identification and construction; solar oven cooking; habitat construction with K’nex; sundial making; OzoBots trail coding; and, last but not least, launching rockets IN THE LIBRARY! Talk about Adventure in the Library – we had it all thanks to Exploration Place and our joint time with Stafford Recreation.

This week we will be exploring a creek with Bluey and starting our reading adventure with “Bob.” Nora’s Cavern is still open for those adventurous enough to explore it!  Adventure in the Library continues for four more weeks! Bring your socks for spelunking!
