Jay Luerman and Charlie Dixson were the winners in Tuesday’s primary election for Great Bend City Council’s Second Ward. Both of their names will appear on the Nov. 4 general election ballot.
The runoff election was needed because four candidates file for the seat. This was the only primary in Barton County.
Luerman received 241 votes and Dixon received 69. Candidate Suresh Bahadur Mahajan received 44 votes and Stephen Patton received 16 votes.
The second ward has 2,723 registered voters and 372 ballots were cast, a turnout of 13.66%.
The totals provided by the Barton County Clerk’s Office Tuesday night are unofficial. The Barton County Commissioners will canvass the votes on Tuesday, Aug. 12, to determine the final tally.
