WASHINGTON — U.S. Senator Roger Marshall is urging any Kansans currently in the Middle East to evacuate immediately, citing escalating tensions and growing security concerns across the region.
Marshall said deteriorating conditions, including the potential for armed conflict, missile and drone attacks, and civil unrest, have created an increasingly unstable environment for Americans abroad. He emphasized that the safety of Kansans is his top priority and that those in affected countries should leave while commercial travel options remain available.
The U.S. Department of State has advised Americans in several Middle Eastern countries to depart immediately due to the heightened threat environment. Those countries include Bahrain, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Israel, the West Bank and Gaza, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, the United Arab Emirates and Yemen.
Marshall also strongly encouraged Americans overseas to enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP), which provides real-time security updates and alerts from the nearest U.S. embassy or consulate.
His office said it is actively assisting Kansans who need help arranging departures. Anyone requiring assistance, or seeking help for a loved one overseas, is asked to contact Marshall’s office by emailing EvacHelp@marshall.senate.gov or calling 785-829-9000.
