Resurfacing work continues on U.S. 281 in Barton County.

The Kansas Department of Transportation project began the week of June 9 and involves a milling and hot-mix asphalt overlay that begins at the north city limits of Great Bend and will continue north to the south city limits of Hoisington. The length is 8.9 miles.

The work is expected to be completed around the end of July, conditions permitting.

During the resurfacing work, traffic will be restricted to one lane and routed through the work zone by following a pilot car. Motorists should be prepared to slow down and stop and expect delays of up to 15 minutes.

Venture Corporation in Great Bend is the primary contractor on the $1.8 million project.

KDOT urges motorists to stay alert and follow posted signs in all work zones. For current road conditions, visit kandrive.gov or call 511. For updates on construction projects in south-central Kansas, visit ksdot.gov/projects/south-central-kansas-projects.
