The Stafford County Historical and Genealogical Society (SCHGS) have received a $988 Community Grant through South Central Community Foundation (SCCF).
The SCHGS serves Stafford County as its official keeper of history. In 2023 and 2024, they hosted 1,011 visitors – 469 local visitors; 366 visitors from elsewhere in Kansas; 168 visitors from 25 other states; and eight from three overseas countries.
The grant was used toward a new computer system for the museum. It will enable them to continue with their work in preserving history since a computer is used in all aspects of the museum’s operations. The new system also ensures that all of the digital data and software programs on the computer remain safe and up-to-date.
SCHGS is grateful for this opportunity from SCCF and is excited to give back to the community.
SCCF is a regional foundation that manages charitable funds for seven counties in south-central Kansas. According to Holly Launchbaugh, executive director of SCCF, the funding of this grant is a step toward their mission of assuring a bright future for south-central Kansas.
