The City of Great Bend Public Lands Department announced that the large playground on the south side of Veterans Lake will be closed for repairs starting Wednesday, June 12. The closure is expected to last one week.

“We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding as we work to improve the safety and quality of our recreational facilities,” a statement issued by Public Lands Director Scott Keeler states. “The repairs are essential to ensure the playground remains a safe and enjoyable space for our community.” He thanked members of the public for their cooperation.

Keeler said only the large playground is closed as employees replace a couple of slides and platforms. The toddler playground on the south side of lake remains open.
