An equipment purchase for the Road and Bridge Department is on the agenda for the Barton County Commission meeting at 9 a.m. Tuesday, July 2, at the courthouse. The meeting will be live-streamed through Microsoft Teams at https://bit.ly/3UeriWc. Anyone who wishes to participate in the discussion of any item is asked to call 620-793-1800 for instructions.

Darren Williams, County Works director, said the Road and Bridge Department has a fleet of heavy equipment that is utilized throughout the year. Recently, staff determined that the addition of a heavy-duty tire changer would improve operations. In addition to staff safety, time management and productivity would be improved while reducing maintenance costs. It is suggested that the Hunter TCX635PHD be purchased for a total cost, including freight, of $23,276.47. Equipment Replacement funds are available for this proposed purchase.

Following the close of the agenda meeting, the following meetings are scheduled:

9:45 - Program update with Brenda Kaiser, Human Resources director.

10 - Program update with Brooke Haulmark, Central Kansas Community Corrections director.

10 a.m. - Program update on the Employee Engagement Committee.

11:15 - Regular business discussion with Matt Patzner, county administrator.

Noon - Noxious Weed departmental visit.
