Four Great Bend High School students were selected for the State Honor Choir, which was held this week in Wichita. With vocal music instructor Susan Stambaugh, the students left the high school Wednesday afternoon, headed for Wichita.

Vianney Rodriguez, Addyson Moore, Ashlynn Pio and Phoebe Sperlein were all selected by audition, after previous selection to the auditioned District Honor Choir. At 1:15 p.m. Wednesday, they left GBHS, receiving the traditional send-off for state contestants. The GBHS Band played as they walked down the Library hallway and exited to the parking lot. They would rehearse with students from across the state at the Kansas Music Educators Association (KMEA) Convention in Wichita.

Stambaugh said the students have been preparing their literature since December and will represent Great Bend at the convention that hosts orchestra, band, choir and elementary teachers from across the state. Their Honor Choir daily rehearsals will culminate in a Saturday, March 1, concert at Century II.
