On Sunday, July 13, St. Mark Lutheran Church, Great Bend, will celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the Ordination and 20 years of dedicated service of Pastor Adam Wutka. The public is invited to join in the celebration at a reception from 1:30-3 p.m. in the church fellowship hall, 2101 Jackson Street.

Rev. Adam D. Wutka was born in Vermont and grew up in southern Florida, graduating from high school there before moving with his family to Texas. He earned his Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of North Texas (UNT) in Denton and completed his Master of Business Administration in 2001. While involved in Lutheran Campus Ministry at UNT, he met his wife, Aimee.

Pastor Adam entered candidacy with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and enrolled at the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg (LTSG) in Pennsylvania. He completed his candidacy and graduated with his Masters of Divinity in June 2005. Pastor Adam was ordained on June 25, 2005, at his home church, Resurrection Lutheran in Plano, Texas. He officially began his ministry at St. Mark in mid-July of that year, leading his first Sunday service on July 17, 2005.

Pastor Adam has a long history of dedicated service both to his congregation and the wider community. Within the ELCA’s Central States Synod, he has held significant roles, including Chairperson of the Resolutions Committee and member of the Parish Ministry Associate Team. Since 2020, Pastor Adam has served as the Dean of the Western Kansas Conference and on the Synod staff as the Director of Lay Ministry. He also serves on the board of the ELCA non-profit Select Learning, Inc., through which he has facilitated education courses for Lutheran lay ministry students across the country.

Pastor Adam’s local involvement is extensive, serving four years as president of the Barton County Emergency Aid Board, co-leading an after-school Cub Scout program, and currently serving as Co-Community Leader for the TLC Twisters 4-H Club and as a member of the Barton County 4-H Council. Pastor Adam is also a regular presence at local senior living facilities, leading monthly worship services at Brookdale, Riverbend and Azria Health Woodhaven, and actively participates with the Barton County Association of Churches. Pastor Adam and Aimee are the proud parents of four children and are active with the Golden Belt Home Educators homeschool co-op, through which they have both taught many classes over the years.
