Stafford County buys grain extraction equipment

ST. JOHN — These are the minutes from the Stafford County Board of County Commissioner meeting.

The Stafford County Board of County Commissioners met on Wednesday, Nov. 19, in the Commission Room in the Annex. Chairman Stanford called the meeting to order at 8:30 a.m. Present: Jim Stanford, Bryce Garner, and Todd Wycoff.

Mike Minton, Gallagher Associates, presented statistics regarding the county health insurance plan for the previous year. He then presented numbers for the 2026 renewal. Discussion was held regarding revised options for the plan. Commissioner Garner moved, and Commissioner Wycoff seconded, to accept the renewal package as presented. Motion carried 3-0.

Mike Daniel, Juvenile Services, met with the commissioners to give an update on the current activities of Juvenile Services.

Rob Murrow, Sheriff, met with the commissioners to discuss the status of the Sheriff Department.

Commissioner Garner moved, and Commissioner Wycoff seconded, to recess to executive session pursuant to the non-elected personnel exception to discuss personnel issues in the Sheriff Department returning to open session at 9:45 a.m. Motion carried 3-0.

Commissioner Garner moved, and Commissioner Wycoff seconded, to continue the executive session until 10 a.m. Motion carried 3-0.

Marshal Sanders, Rural Fire Director, met with the commissioners to discuss the emergency grain extraction equipment. He explained that additional equipment was needed to operate the two systems properly if they were to be used. He presented bids from Weis Fire & Safety Equipment in the amount of $25,569.87 to completely outfit the two systems properly. Marshal also stated that a training would be conducted so that emergency responders would be properly prepared to use the equipment. Commissioner Garner moved, and Commissioner Wycoff seconded, to approve the presented bids for emergency extraction equipment. Motion carried 3-0.

Commissioner Wycoff moved, and Commissioner Garner seconded, to recess to executive session pursuant to the non-elected personnel exception to discuss a non-elected personnel issue to return to session.

Commissioner Garner moved, and Commissioner Wycoff seconded, to approve the minutes of the Nov. 12th meeting. Motion carried 3-0.

Commissioner Garner moved, and Commissioner Wycoff seconded, to approve the presented tax roll corrections. Motion carried 3-0.
