STAFFORD — Easter weekend wasn’t what it should have been, but it turned out what it needed to be. A road trip to pick up two sets of hydraulic steps to help Jeff get on his equipment to do spring planting.
First we went to Topeka to see daughter Jordan and husband Josh for Easter Brunch. Next we had new sights going to Baileyville where our steps were waiting. Kansas is NOT flat. It is beautiful!
This area has a lot of history for Kansas and for our family. Topeka and Holton have grave sites of ancestors’ first and last stops in Kansas, Indian reservations, Pony Express Trails, Black Squirrels and beautiful Manhattan with Tuttle Puddle and the K-State campus. Of, course everything was just a drive by look as happens in our family.
How does this relate to the library? In this hard time for the economy and our pocketbooks, Staycations can be very relaxing and entertaining. Start in your own backyard – come see all the changes we have made at the Library. Especially come to our next First Friday, which is all about where to go for fun in Kansas. Come sing with us, admire art and eat with us.
After Jordan gives her program she is traveling to Elkhart for a yearly adventure on The Big Kansas Road Trip. This is a yearly road trip through selected areas of Kansas put on by the Kansas Sampler Foundation. Each year a different area of Kansas is showcased to help you learn what all Kansas has to offer. You still have time to participate in this fun event. Just jump in your car and GO!
