The Family Crisis Center’s 5K Run & Zoo Fun event on Saturday raised awareness of Child Abuse Prevention Month. April is also Sexual Assault Awareness Month. The FCC is blanketing the community with educational and entertaining events that focus on sexual assault and child-abuse prevention.
Saturday’s activities started with a 5K race in Brit Spaugh Park, followed by the Zoo Fun event at the Great Bend Brit Spaugh Zoo. There were food vendors, family-friendly activities, and raffles and prizes.
There were displays and activities from the Salvation Army, Live Like Jesus Today Ministries, The Center for Counseling and Consultation, the Barton County Health Department, Dropping 22, Family Crisis Center, Avenues for Change, Heart of Kansas Family Health, Healthy Families (Kansas Children’s Service League), the Great Bend Fire Department and the Great Bend Police Department.
