LYONS — On Aug. 21, the Rice County Sheriff’s Office participated in a four-hour saturation patrol in partnership with the Lyons Police Department and Kansas Highway Patrol, with valuable assistance from Barton County Sheriff’s Office and Great Bend Police Department K9 teams.

Rice County Sheriff Nicholas Sowers reports that during the operation, 64 contacts were made, resulting in six arrests. One incident involved a brief vehicle pursuit. Seized narcotics included suspected methamphetamine, cocaine, fentanyl, and other substances.

Sheriff Sowers extended “sincere thanks to all partnering agencies for their teamwork and support.” He added, “Operations like this strengthen public safety, disrupt drug activity, and reinforce our commitment to keeping our communities safe.”
