HOISINGTON — Arlyn Kent Steinert, 73, passed away Oct. 6, 2024, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita, Kan. He was born Nov. 16, 1950, in Great Bend, Kan., to Paul and Nima (Ochs) Steinert. Arlyn married Marcell Schwein, then later married Cynthia “Cindy” (Roush) March 5, 1977, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Milberger, Kan.

Arlyn, a resident of Hoisington, had been a longtime employee of Great Bend Feeding (I.L.S.), serving as a heavy equipment operator, retiring Dec. 31, 2021. He proudly served his country during the Vietnam War in the U.S. Army and was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Hoisington, and Life Member of V.F.W. Post 6240 Canteen, Russell. He enjoyed old westerns and word searches, but above all, Arlyn cherished his time spent with family.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Cindy Steinert; one son, Jason Steinert of Hoisington, Kan.; one brother, Dennis Steinert and wife Jane of Russell, Kan.; two sisters, Donna Donovan and husband Gerald of Hoisington and Carol Herthel of Overland Park, Kan.; one sister-in-law Kay Steinert of Hoisington; daughter of the heart, Ona Marshall of Hoisington; four grandchildren, Brock Steinert, Troy White, Preston Florian and Whitney Wikoff; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by Cindy’s siblings, Kirk Roush of Dallas, Kelly Roush and wife Sue of Lebanon, Kan., and Connie Tholstrup and husband Mike of Concordia, Kan.; and their respective families. He was preceded in death by a child, Brian Steinert; and a brother, Elton Steinert.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 11, 2024, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Hoisington, with Rev. Wayne Baldyga and Rhonda Templing, SAM, presiding. Interment will follow at Hoisington Cemetery, Hoisington, with military honors by Ft. Riley Honor Guard. Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 10, at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, with the family receiving friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Memorials may be given to Emmanuel Lutheran Church or Kans 4 Kids or Clara Barton Hospital Foundation, in care of Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, PO Box 146, Hoisington, KS 67544.
