A camping trailer stolen in Barton County over a month ago was recovered this week in Reno County, Barton County Sheriff Brian Bellendir said.

On Oct. 3, deputies with the Barton County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 2300 block of Railroad Avenue just south the City of Great Bend where the individual reported the theft of a 2018 Jayco Jayflight bumper-pull camper had been stolen sometime the night before. The estimated value of the camper was $20,500.

Sheriff’s Office detectives began looking into the matter, following up tips and other information, Bellendir said. On Tuesday, detectives obtained a search warrant to seize the camper from a location in Hutchinson where it had been located.

Sheriff’s deputies transported it back to Barton County.

“This investigation is continuing, and additional search warrants and arrest warrants are expected in the near future,” Bellendir said.

The Barton County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Reno County Sheriff’s Office.
