Barton County Emergency Management Director Amy Miller announced Thursday she has collected sufficient data to provide to the State of Kansas for the Disaster Declaration for the period beginning April 28.

Now, she said, that declaration has been updated to be “open ended.”

At this time, Miller is not seeking information from the public. But, she does ask residents to continue documenting water issues.

This Documentation should include pictures and a written narrative of dates and inches of depth of water.

Miller has provided the information she collected to the Kansas Division of Emergency Management. The process is as follows:

• Counties submit damages to the State.

• The state complies a complete report of the damages.

• Then that information is submitted to FEMA.

• FEMA then determines if the State of Kansas qualifies for a federal disaster declaration.
