STAFFORD — What a Glorious November! We need every dry day we can get to dry out the milo and get it cut. At this time of year every nice warm day is one less snow day to worry about.

We had Hunters in the Library Tuesday! Eleven of them. Mrs. Minks’s 3-year-old preschool class walked to the library to hunt BEARS! Each of them bagged 10 bears. Winnie the Pooh, Paddington, Corduroy, Mamma and Pappa Berenstain were just a few of the bears found. Each bear had an activity and a book to enjoy. When they were through hunting, they enjoyed the toys in the Children’s Room. Thanks Mrs. Minks and her paras for bringing them down to the library.

We would love for others to come join the fun with your favorite little person. The library has a lot of great books AND fun things to do for families and friends.

We appreciate the shampoo that was left at the front door for our gathering of supplies for Stafford Schools. I have posted a list on facebook of the needs at school. Bring them in when we’re open or let us know and we can make arrangements for the gift.

Call for an appointment on the 19th to enroll in Medicare Plan D. There are still a few spots left. I know in the past years they have helped us find plans that saved us hundreds a month on prescriptions. Each year, providers change their plans to attract consumers and it is important to keep track of the changes. The consultant from Southwest Agency on Aging will help you choose the best plan for your situation. They have also been helpful with information on co-insurance.

CBS Sunday Morning does a segment where we look ahead to the 250th Birthday of our Nation. Walter Isaacson, author of “The Greatest Sentence Ever Written” states let’s not be so polarized. Let’s use this birthday to unite us by reflection on our shared creed, “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”

The Declaration of Independence was written by a drafting committee of John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, and Thomas Jefferson. Jefferson wrote, “We hold these truths to be sacred.” Franklin crossed out “sacred” and wrote in “self-evident.” Jefferson wrote “derive rights” and Adams changed it to “they were endowed by their Creator.” These three creators balanced the role of Divine Providence and the voice of reason.

Let’s continue to reflect on what makes our country great. Let’s have less polarized discussion and agree to disagree with Grace and strive to keep our country united.
