Pajamas in the Library? Critters in the library? You’d better believe it!
The Macksville City Library’s second-ever Stuffie Sleepover on Nov. 18 was a fun hour, filled with games, stories and snacks.
The event was hosted by the library and the Macksville High School FCCLA, whose members prepared the snacks, made photo props, read books and played games with the kiddos.
Twenty-six children attended the event along with 18 adults and 15 helpers, including librarian Jody Suiter and FCCLA sponsor Laura Wolff.
A 2025 Community Grant awarded by the South Central Community Foundation made it possible for every participant to take home a new bedtime book and enjoy a fun snack mix.
When story time was over and new books had been selected, kiddos kissed their critters goodnight (or felt a little sad and took their critters home!).
The stuffies who stayed had a blast at the library. They read books. They played with the Dr. set. They ate pizza and fruit. They took a swim in our sink! They played with blocks and the Connect Four game. They explored the library and even got into a little mischief.
Then, it was time for bed. We tucked them in, and they fell asleep under the lights of our tree.
Kiddos came back to the library the next day to retrieve their stuffies and a photo from the sleepover.
Thanks to everyone for participating! And, we’re grateful to SCCF for this grant, promoting literacy, play, imagination and community building.
