The Ellinwood Underground will transform into a haunted maze of screams and shadows this October as the nonprofit presents its new Tunnel of Terror fundraiser. The event will run Oct. 10, 11, 17, 24, 25 and 31 from 6 to 10 p.m. each night, with tickets priced at $15 per person.
Visitors can expect a full haunted-house style experience in the historic underground tunnels of downtown Ellinwood, complete with live volunteers, eerie décor and spine-chilling surprises. To enhance the festivities, a rotating lineup of food trucks will be on-site each night:
• Oct. 10: Lana’s Catering
• Oct. 11: 2 Brothers and a Pig
• Oct. 17: Paradise Eats
• Oct. 24 & 25: Waddle Wagon
• Oct. 31: Freaking Delicious Cheesecakes
“This fundraiser is critical to helping us sustain the Ellinwood Underground. The history found in our tunnels is too special not to protect. We want the Ellinwood Underground to be here for decades to come,” said Rick Casagrande, president of the Ellinwood Underground City Foundation. “Every scream, every ticket purchased, helps preserve a piece of Kansas history that you can’t find anywhere else.”
In 2024, more than 3,000 visitors toured the tunnels, including out-of-state and international guests. Foundation leaders hope this year’s Tunnel of Terror will continue to grow the attraction’s reach while raising funds for preservation and maintenance.
Tickets are available through the Ellinwood Underground Foundation website at EllinwoodUnderground.com.
