Park Elementary Secretary Ingry Martinez hands Board of Education Member Karen Lindberg her visitor badge after completing the new Raptor VisitorSafe check-in process at the front desk.

To further strengthen safety and security across all schools, Great Bend Public Schools announced it will implement Raptor Technologies’ VisitorSafe system. The web-based visitor management system introduces a standardized, secure check-in protocol for all school guests, going into full effect on Monday, Oct. 12.

The system streamlines office check-in procedures, ensuring school staff can accurately monitor and verify all individuals present in district buildings during school hours.

“The safety of our students and staff is our highest priority,” said John Popp, USD 428 assistant superintendent. “VisitorSafe supports a safe learning environment with a consistent yet simple check-in experience for parents, volunteers, and community members.”

Starting Oct. 12, all school visitors arriving during school hours must enter through the main entrance and proceed directly to the front office before entering classrooms, hallways, or common areas.

Visitors will undergo a quick four-step process:

  1. Report to the Main Office: Present a valid government-issued photo ID to front office staff along with the reason for the visit.
  2. Instant Screening: Staff will scan the photo ID through the Raptor VisitorSafe terminal.
  3. Badge Issuance: Once cleared, visitors will receive a printed badge that must be worn visibly throughout the duration of their stay.
  4. Checkout: Visitors must check out at the front office prior to departing the campus.

The Raptor system specifically screens visitor information against national sex offender registries across all 50 U.S. states and territories. When an ID is scanned, the system retrieves only three points of data: name, date of birth, and photo.

The system does not access criminal histories, traffic records, immigration status, or outstanding warrant databases. In the event of a potential match, district administrative personnel are alerted privately to handle the situation according to district protocol. Raptor Technologies adheres to strict data security and industry privacy standards, ensuring no unnecessary personal information is collected or stored.

Visitors may present any of the following valid, government-issued photo IDs at check-in:

  • State Driver’s License or State-issued Non-Driver ID
  • U.S. Military Identification Card
  • U.S. or Foreign Passport
  • Permanent Resident Card (Green Card)
  • Native American Tribal ID Card

Great Bend Public Schools appreciates the cooperation and partnership of families and community members as these updated safety procedures take effect.
