Michael Gerard Sanders, 63, passed away June 3, 2026, at the University of Kansas Health Systems – ER, Great Bend, Kan. He was born on April 15, 1963, in Great Bend, Kan., to Donald and Agnes (Karlin) Sanders. On June 18, 1994, he married Jeanette Loreg in Great Bend. She survives.

A lifetime Great Bend resident known as ‘Mike’ or ‘Spike’, he was a hard worker, working as an electrician for the family business, Don’s Electric Service, for 48 years, before becoming self-employed at M.G.S. Contracting. He enjoyed hunting, was a big sports fan – watching baseball, basketball and football, especially the Kansas City Chiefs, and above all, loved spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife of the home; daughter, Cyandra Mong and husband Bruce of Holyrood; four grandchildren, Alibbea ‘Libby’ Mong, Emersyn Mong, Laynie Mong, and Colt Mong, all of Holyrood; two brothers, Richard Sanders of Arlington, Texas, and John Sanders and wife Lori of Great Bend; two sisters, Sheila Helm of Great Bend and Julia Novak and husband Phillip of Pleasant Hill, Calif.; two brothers-in-law, Clifford Loreg of Great Bend and Junior Loreg of Wichita; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Terri Kowalsky; brother-in-law, Mark Helm; parents-in-law, Melvin and Joyce Loreg; and best friend since childhood, Dennis ‘D.D.’ Herrman.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, June 12, 2026, at Bryant Funeral Home, with Reverend LeRoy Keith presiding. Inurnment will follow at Great Bend Cemetery North. Visitation will take place from noon to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 11, 2026, with family receiving guests from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., all at Bryant Funeral Home. Memorials have been designated to the Grandchildren’s Education Fund or Golden Belt Humane Society, in care of Bryant Funeral Home, 1425 Patton Rd., Great Bend, KS 67530.
