SEDGWICK — Sedgwick's softball team edged Hoisington 3-2 in Tuesday's final regular season game.

The Cardinals (14-11) are projected to play Augusta (12-10) in the Clearwater regional next week. Clearwater (22-4) will play Abilene (5-19).

Cardinal pitcher Tarlton (8-7, 3.56 ERA) yielded no earned runs and struck out six strikeouts. Catcher Reese Vaughn threw out Kailen Ratzloff on an attempted steal.

The Cardinals led 1-0 when Macie Strong scored on Marly Brewer's third inning groundout.

Sedgwick scored three unearned fourth inning runs. Jennah Wallace scored on Gracelyn Fields third-inning groundout. Kailen Ratzloff scored on a Alivia Burns double. Burns scored on an error for a 3-1 lead.

Tarlton scored on Reese Vaughn's sixth-innning groundout. Sedgwick pitcher Ella Vandracek retired Reece Vaughn on a line out to strand the tying runner on base.
