Deines Center summer exhibit open

RUSSELL — The Deines Cultural Center’s summer invitational exhibition, “Happy Place,” opens Sunday, July 19, with a reception from 2 -4 p.m. The exhibit will be featured at the Deines through Aug. 24.

Twenty artists from around the region created pieces that explore where and how they define personal sanctuary, including tranquil spaces, creative practices, and moments of meditation or prayer. It celebrates the diverse ways individuals find solace and tranquility in their lives.

Featured artists include: David Barnes, Great Bend; Krystall Barnes, Great Bend; Don Crouse, Great Bend; Ashton Dawley, Topeka; David Friday, Russell; Tracy Hanzlick, Russell; Jeanne Elizabeth Hunter, Russell; Brian Hutchinson, Hays; Joyce Jilg, Hays; Michael Jilg, Hays; Mary Kottmann, Great Bend; Kathleen Kuchar, Hays; Matt Lyczak, Kansas City, Mo.; Cal Mahin, Hays; Tess McKnight, Luray; Ruth Moritz, Salina; Elizabeth Norris, Russell; Virginia Rohleder, Gorham; Barbara Stevens, Downs; and Shannon Trevethan, Russell.
