Commencement set for Friday

Barton Community College’s 55th commencement is set for 7 p.m. May 9 in the Barton Gymnasium. The ceremony will also be live-streamed via the Barton Facebook and YouTube pages.

After brief comments from Barton President Dr. Marcus Garstecki, Vice President of Student Services Angie Maddy will present the 2025 Outstanding Graduate awards to Paige Mink of Dodge City and Tierra Yohon of Stockton.

Vice President of Instruction Elaine Simmons will then present five Distinguished Instructor Awards to English Instructor Justin Brown and Nursing Instructor Heidi McKennon from the Barton County Campus, Math Instructor Amber Bebout, Science Instructor Stephenie Brandford-Clark, and Instructor Ann Ingala from the Fort Riley and Fort Leavenworth Campuses.

Chairman of the Board of Trustees Mike Johnson and Simmons will confer the degrees. Developmental Education Instructor Abby Howe will present the graduates as Dr. Garstecki extends the college’s official congratulations on behalf of the Board of Trustees.

Pastor Samuel Ryan is set to lead the invocation.
