The Kansas Department of Transportation is set to begin preparatory work for three bridge replacement projects along K-4 in Rush County the week of Aug. 3.

The structures are located between Bison and Otis near the intersections of K-4 and County Road 320, County Road 340 and County Road 360.

Initial work will consist of constructing temporary detours, also known as shooflys, around each of the bridge sites to carry traffic around the work zones as the bridges are replaced. KDOT expects to shift traffic on to the detours in November.

County Road 360 will be closed at K-4 throughout the project. County Road 340 will be closed south of K-4 during the shoofly construction and fully closed upon its completion. County Road 320 will remain open for the entirety of the project.

Work is expected to be completed and all roads reopened by the end of summer 2027, conditions permitting.
