Two Quilts of Valor were awarded to area veterans on Saturday, June 20, at the American Legion Post 180 in Great Bend. Quilts are made and presented by members of the Golden Plains Quilts of Valor.

Tim Easley United States Navy, Petty Officer Second Class Tim Easley, was awarded a Quilt of Valor from Golden Plains Quilts of Valor on June 20, 2026, at the American Legion Post 180 in Great Bend, Kansas. Richard Williams, United States Army veteran, Specialist Richard Williams, was awarded a Quilt of Valor from Golden Plains Quilts of Valor on June 20, 2026, at the American Legion Post 180 in Great Bend, Kansas. Williams served from 1965 to 1967. The quilt top was made by Wendy Brackeen, quilted by Amy Schartz Mellor.
