The Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) plans to begin a mill and overlay on U.S. 183 in Rush County on or about July 1. The project will cover approximately 12 miles of U.S. 183 between the south city limits of LaCrosse and the Ellis County line.

Venture Corporation, based in Great Bend, is the primary contractor for the $2.3 million project, which should be complete by the end of the summer, conditions permitting.

During construction, flaggers and a pilot car will be used to guide one lane of traffic through construction at a reduced speed. Drivers should plan for delays of 15 minutes or less during daylight hours.

KDOT urges motorists to stay alert and follow posted signs in all work zones.
